Dengue Smengue

Hi friends and family! We are still in Bali. We were supposed to be gone by now but mama got dengue fever and had to go to the hospital because she was so sick. Then she got out and dada got sick with dengue and now Baker has it. We have not done anything fun in a long time so I'll tell you about a few things we did before everyone got sick.

Bike Ride We started our ride in an abandoned parking lot in a village near a giant volcano. We biked on the road for a little bit then went off-roading.

We stopped in another village with a SPIDER HOUSE. It is an old abandoned house filled with creepy orb spiders in webs. They are NOT little. They are like tarantulas but less hairy. Our guide even held one! Just thinking about it makes me creeped out.

We biked through a lot of rice patties too. It was really pretty. At one point if you fell off the trail you would fall right into the rice fields. Thank goodness I did not fall but Baker did!

We ended up biking 25 kilometers! I liked seeing Bali this way because you get to experience everything. You should try it if you ever come to Bali.

Cooking Class

We did a cooking class. We cooked a lot of traditional Balinese food at a nice family's house. A lot of this cooking is chopping and then making pastes to make the food taste good.

My favorite food we cooked was chicken in coconut milk which was delicious. Mama got all the recipes and I'm excited to try cooking it all again when we have friends over. We also made corn fritters and those were delicious too.

The meal we cooked was amazing. It reminded me of Thanksgiving because there was so much yummy food.

Scooter Ride with Arta

Arta is our amazing guide! He took me, Boo, and Lu on a scooter ride. Don't worry we were only in the hotel parking lot unfortunately. It was the best.

Then mama got sick and Arta stayed at the hospital with her. See why Arta is the best?

Now we are at a hotel on the beach, even though we don't go to the beach very much. Mama is feeling better and takes me and Lu outside. Dad and Boo are still very sick. I feel like I am going to go crazy. But thank goodness our friend Kalina sends us treats and art supplies so we have things to do every day. Thank you Kalina!
